2   Link   4/16/2010 - Public Opinion - CASD Board Presentation Reveals Disappointing Test Data
CASD Curriculum Director Chris Bigger gave a special presentation to the school board following the official end of Wednesday's board meeting. His presentation showed that there are roughly 3,000 students in the District who are not meeting academic standards -- enough to fill the stands in the new high school gymnasium.

Significantly, though at least one board member tried to claim that underprivileged students were the ones with academic difficulties, Bigger's data showed that the 3,000 students come from all levels, including the economically advantaged.

Note that though the article doesn't comment on this information, Bigger's presentation seems to suggest that students have seen no benefit from the central curriculum administration hired a few years ago.

The District has said that having more people in administration will help students, but the test scores appear to refute that.

At tonight's school board meeting, Curriculum Director Chris Bigger will present data showing that CASD ranks only at the 25th percentile in the state in PSSA performance.
